Whats up with qualcomm? It just had an analyst price target of 1000... now its back to 400 pre-split.

I thought analyst price targets were just a way to tell the little guy where the stock would be trading in the near future? because analysts know those sorts of things and like to share their knowledge- they are really smart and looking out for the small investor.

What gives?

Merrill went to a neutral on QCOM but that was when it was around 140.

Glenn,

Did you know that before the downgrade, Merrill's price target was $67.50?
