Dear JDN,

Well, sort of but mostly the kind of writing that would put the average person into a coma. When I bite the bullet and retire, however, I'm going to turn my hand to action packed, shoot 'em up adventure novels ;>

I know someone who had recently come into some money just before Black Monday, too. He made a blind call to ML to get a broker and had gotten some relatively new, eager-beaver young guy named Peter who was hooked on some program available to ML brokers. Well, Peter put my friend into a number of stocks, including CPQ and Costco which Peter said was really going to become hot.

Come Black Monday, my newbie investor friend called Peter and despite Peter's pleading, sold everything. He then closed his ML account and took the money to Smith Barney. I have no idea what stocks the SB person steered him to but he was a total fool to leave that eager beaver Peter at ML. Everything Peter had him buy did extremely well over time.
