Averaging down is fine for those rare people who can do it in an entirely rational manner. Most, including me, find from experience that it doesn't work well for them. There's an excellent article on mobile phones in Japan in the 2/7/00 print issue of Fortune "Within a year broadband services under a standard called WCDMA will offer download speeds 3 to 5 times faster than what millions of American PC users enjoy. ...
