Arris Interactive is a joint venture between Nortel and Antec to market cable telephony products. I believe Nortel own 7/8ths of the joint venture. Here is an announcment of a product which will allow current users of the circuit switched contstant bit rate product to migrate to an IP telephony product. Any questions about how this product should be referred to Denver Techie. He is an expert on the subject.

ANTEC Debuts Its Cornerstone© IP Migration Solution At Western Cable Show - New Solution Enables Operators to Deploy CBR Telephony Today, Migrate to IP Later

December 15, 1999, Los Angeles -- ANTEC will
announce the Cornerstone Integrated Voice/Data Gateway
(IVDG), manufactured by Arris Interactive, at the Western
Cable Show. The IVDG allows current and future
Cornerstone users to add carrier grade, internet protocol
(IP) voice and DOCSIS-compliant high-speed data
capability to their already established base of Host Digital
Terminals (HDT's). It enables operators to migrate to IP
access without waiting for an IP backbone, thereby
capturing revenue today while establishing a footprint for
future high revenue services. Arris Interactive is a venture
between ANTEC Corp and Nortel Networks.

"IVDG allows operators to easily migrate from constant bit
rate (CBR) voice to IP voice and data while using the same
equipment," said Dan Paone, Director, Product Line
Management, Digital Systems, ANTEC. "It enhances the
HDT's critical role as an IP telephone gateway, allowing
Packet PortsTM to connect to an existing switch and the
public switched telephone network (PSTN)."

Deployed with Cornerstone HDT's, operators can use the
IVDG functionality to provide IP over the HFC network for
carrier class voice and data service. In addition, the
system's dual modem cards (DMC) will continue to provide
constant bit rate voice service to telephone subscribers.

Furthermore, operators do not have to change their HDT
footprint or headend design to accommodate IP voice and
data service. The IVDG enhancement is completely
compatible with established Operations Support Systems
(OSS) and Network Operations Center (NOC)
administration procedures. In addition, ANTEC will supply
a completely auto-provisioning system, CPS 2000.
Operators can learn more about Integrated Voice/Data
Gateway, as well as ANTEC's complete line of
Cornerstone Voice and Data, Laser Link©, RF LinkTM, Inter
LinkTM, Energy LinkTM and Home LinkTM broadband
network solutions at Western Cable Show booth #839.
