My core position is in JDSU but have decided to use ETEK as a trading position. I think the merger will go through but even if it did not ETEK would still be a good candidate for someone else to pick up. For these reasons I feel pretty safe buying ETEK - good have gotten some cheaper (started buying at 200) but have never been great at timing bottoms. I just buy a little every few points down.

It is interesting that the doom and gloom portrayed in posts is directly proportional to whether the posters have sold or lightened up greatly. The economy is doing great - even if we do get a .5 hike the setbacks are temporary. Techs are roaring - money is flowing into this market and especially into techs (record inflows to tech mutual funds). If anyone believes all this money is going to bonds at 7 1/4% (hell even 8%) they're nuts. Valuations are high but for good reason - where else would you put your money.

Don't get me wrong - I don't expect markets to do what they did last year but expecting huge drops seems unrealistic as well. I'm not expecting triples from JDSU this year but a surer investment choice for 50% is hard to find.

good luck to everyone,

Claude (rhymes with TOAD)
