About selling equity or index puts......

Selling puts is another whole level that is NOT just given out by institutions to traders/investors without a decent net worth and proven reasonable experience in options. Selling index puts is even harder to obtain.

If many folks are given this level and then are selling puts without knowing the risks, then they'll learn them real fast by losing their shirts.

However, selling CC's is much more tame and lower down the food chain. If you're wrong, your stock is lifted. Very simple, very fast.

People sell calls on volatile stocks for many reasons. They get big premiums, and they think that is worth their effort. Big VOL = BIG premium. They also think they can score big, which is still the lure. Options are akin to a lottery ticket in some people hands.

I'd personally try to hit singles and doubles vs home runs, but that's my option style. But......I've done both.
