morgan, just a couple of points and then I'll let you go.
First, I also enjoy your posts, and some lively debate, too. As you know, I don't completely agree with your position regarding stock promotion, but at times like this, they certainly make me think hard about my own position. Yes, I want KP and team would defend the stock more. Yes, I want KP and team to suspend selling stock at depressed prices (but I have less of a problem with him selling at high prices, assuming he is delivering the growth he promises). But no, I don't believe the ultimate goal of this company should be to buy a MER, LEH, or other brokerage/invest. banking business. That's one sure way to ensure a 10x PE forever.

Second, regarding AMZN, its interesting to note that AMZN and NITE have had roughly equal stock price performance since NITE's IPO in 7/98, actually NITE a bit better. Not that ths should matter to any NITE shareholders. But since you always seem to use the Bezos vs. KP comparison its only fair to see what each has actually delivered.

For those that bought near the lows in NITE's case (say sub-10), there is little to worry about yet, unless you buy into the BSC analyst arguments. For those that bought near the AMZN low of 20 (in this time period), the huge questions still remains. Will the company ever turn a profit? Can it ever dig out from its mountain of debt (which will likely be getting larger soon)? This didn't matter 1 year ago, but obviously is getting more attention as we move forward, and AMZN gets further from profitability.

For those that bought near the high in either case, no doubt there is still much suffering, and a long road remains ahead for breakeven. At this point its perhaps a bit easier to see NITE at its former highs, simply based on a couple years of earnings growth (and perhaps a short squeeze thrown in there at some point :)). AMZN is tougher to see up there now, although this company may continue to confound as it has in the past. One thing is for sure, when you least expect it, they seem to come up with something to get themselves off life support.

And finally, I agree with you 100% about Friday's lack of capitalizing on the brokerage coverage. Friday would have been a great day to release something positive given the PW and AB coverage of the last couple of days. But something else is at work here. There was plenty of buying in the stock. But that selling through INCA has been relentless. You must have noticed INCA these last days relentlessly beating this stock into submission. Do you think KP and team don't see this? With such a huge seller (shorter?) they may simply have concluded that any PR would have been wasted. I'm just speculating, but INCA selling is just ferocious. When it subsides, perhaps KP and team will capitalize with a steady stream of PR.
