P,

2000 should be a revenue growth year for Pairgain. Now is not the time to sell. If by 3Q00 Avidia isn't making the cut, I'll think about selling. Here is some additional info from the 3Q CC on the Westell/Teltrend front:

HDSL2 allows for broader application in the loop and we've added a very positive twist to the technology itself by introducing an open-span termination shelf. What we've essentially done is open up the specifications, by providing the specs to other suppliers. ADC and Teltrend have already signed on to provide compliant products. In effect, it allows their plugs to fit into our shelf and vice versa. This direction has been received very positively by our customers. By taking this leadership position and by aggressively moving to provide a low cost HDSL2 product early in the product cycle, we believe, and I can't stress this enough, that we have a product to displace the existing HDSL suppliers.

Look for Pairgain to use the Globespan/Lucent HDSL2 chips in their products. Hopefully Pairgain was able to get a good price on those chips since they sold ME to Globespan. This will hopefully help them compete in price going forward in the HDSL2 business. Pairgain believes Avidia can provide 50-60 million in revenue in 2000, but only 3 million in 4Q99.

Pairgain has a market cap of 823 million, with 400+ million in short-term-investments/cash. Once they turn the corner on revenue and earnings, look for them to go shopping.
