Agree yogi, the degree now-a-days means "I've paid my dues, especially my tuition." There is no course offered entitled "commen sense." I taught graduate students (part-time) at a Texas University who were majoring in TAX. In my corporate and partnership tax classes I squeezed in two classes about the stock market because 3/4ths of the class could not read the stock page in the local paper nor define what "PE" was nor did they understand the quote system. That was 7 years ago.... but not much has changed. I don't teach any more but I'm amazed today how many young people know how to use a computer, yet they are not any smarter. Problem is that computers are being used as short-cuts to research, writing, spelling, math, etc. When you can get the cliff-notes on line, who needs to read a book anymore. When you can get anwers to last semester's exam in a chat room, who needs to study for the freshman standardized college algebra exam, and who needs to outline their notes for history, when outlines are available on line from former students who post them as a part of their faturnity project. It's truely a brave new world.....
