As a long time tech holder, with INTC as one of my core holdings, I think this could be a rough spring while the Fed struggles to get control over the economy. The tightenings will more greatly adversely affect those who may really need to borrow, and those with cash or big capital gains will continue to buy big homes, fancy vehicles and luxury goods. I think the little guy is in for a tough 2000.

I believe it was an IBD article that pointed out that hiking rates would affect the less well-to-do much more than the wealthy. It also pointed out that the companies that needed to borrow would be hit, while the high flying tech companies will little debt would only be indirectly impacted through less sales. They stated that this would have a tendency to focus capital into the very stocks that Greenspan believes is in a bubble, driving them even higher while crashing the rest of the market.
