Hello Bill. Thanks for the link Sprint/Global 1. Not quite the way you posted it. gg. The whole deal was supposedly valued by Global 1 at 10 bill. a little while ago. So Sprint could not have expected to get more than 5 bill. with the 50% stake they own. I guess getting out of a relationship that soured at a price of over 1 bln. may not have looked too bad to Sprint. They probably were happy to get that.

Yes. I keep having lots of questions about WCOM also. But in the long run it should be doing alright again. Many big guys who own the stock are not sure why this stock is dropping. All I can fig. out that there is a lot of guessing going on by the naysayers. I am just hoping that this merger will work out alright. Like I said: I heard the top regulator say that they like to act on a merger deal within 6 mos. or so. I think even this or so has passed already. Once this current market selloff is behind us, I may even pick up some more WCOM. It looks pretty cheap to me. But I guess that's always in the eye of the beholder. Don't believe that I am after you for having questions on WCOM. gg. I like everybodies honest opinions. That is what we are here for. Aren't we? Anyhow. Nothing looks too good at this point. Other countries are prodding our FED to raise our interest rates. Maybe they should cut their interest rates and their economies would thrive a little better. Again. In the eyes of the beholder. gg.

Here is an interesting article. I don't know if you remember that I was helping Frank out on those tobacco taxes. I kept saying. Hey, why not tax other things that are not healthy for us. Now this, gg.

dailynews.yahoo.com

Pretty soon we will be taxed on everything and we will just stop eating. Maybe we can live on love and air alone. gg. Just kidding. We should eat healthier but taxing is not the answer. Maybe they should stop taxing things that ARE healthy. Like sports equipment, exercise stuff etc. There is a long list of taxes the GVT could get rid of. Less taxes, not more, is the answer for us.

I only have time for 1 post. So I will pile it all on here. Don't go away. I will put another link on from Switzerland and AOL/Mannesman. For the ones that own AOL. Ouch. That stock is heading south again also.

dailynews.yahoo.com

Good ole IMF. I don't think they would know how to prop up an economy. Sev. countries they supplied with monies is a good example. gg.

Talking about WCOM and Sprint.

I guess the sale is over with.

Good Afternoon Bill,

How have you been? We had our first major snow storm in over four years and while still digging out of this one, another is on our cross hairs for tomorrow.

I have shares in Qualcomm and although we hate to see these miserable corrections, I think that I may begin buying a couple more hundred shares since we already had a 50% correction in th stock and the Nasdaq is down almost 10%. I also like JDSU, EMC, EXDS,CSCO and ORCL. Intel is always a must own.

Have a great weekend
Frank
