When I just went long some years ago, I doubled my portfolio--lucky timing iwth MSFT and DELL. When I used options this last six months, it went up 600% overall. With the recent retracement from Qualcomm it's only up 350%. Now I can make income selling puts and covered calls and reducing cost basis. Each to his own style of comfort, but even if you read through the Motley Fool's basic primer, you find that adding options massively increases your overall profit over the longterm.
