Re. . Every single applicant who bought a share since Paine Webber's DEATHKISS and who still holds onto the dream is losing money.

Nothing jinx a stock like high-profile recs. I remember in 1994, right before CSCO's 50% drop over a month's time, 37 brokerage houses re-iterated their strong buy rating on CSCO in the chorus style. The retail investors were invariably victims of such set-ups.

Back on my old theme that we really don't know whether we are lucky or smart or just what combination it is.

I suppose there are many chastened TA experts who are not feeling so bright right now. Then again, there will be many who have had their brilliance confirmed by a string of lucky or prescient [there's that word again Jon] decisions. Now they'll bet even bigger! Meanwhile, the brokers and market makers will take their cut and their spread and their swindles at every turn, wearing down the TA fast-traders who only THINK they know what they are doing. They should read that link carefully. It would be good to be the ones who DO know what they are doing.

With Qualcomm volumes, it must be one of the biggest smorgasbords ever for the brokers [even with the cheaper on-line trades].

Thanks for the nice comments at my wake Dave1. I recommend attending one's funeral BEFORE the event. Even if it isn't all good, you get to hear a few things. I hasten to add that it was pointed out that it was a TEMPORARY ban. Brianh inadvertently gave the impression that it was 'you're outa here punk'.

Which it still might be. I do things slowly [unless in a hurry].

And Tom, it was 1993 when Qualcomm had the first big panic, not 1883, which is when Ericy first mooted CDMA.

PS: It's nice to see a pleasant Coming Into Buy Range. Even Jill, Poet and Jim are playing nice. You think SI will send me a cheque, since SI Bob was unable to do his job properly? I doubt it - they don't seem that good at business and customer relations. Yes, I flatter myself that I had a bit to do with tidying up the worst of it, but so did the fusillade that SI received from everyone over the issue of biffing me out. We, the people, do exert control against barbarians in our midst. We just need to exercize a bit of discipline - sometimes of ourselves and actually, especially of ourselves.
