Subj: GATA News: Gaining Momentum / Senator Phil Gramm

Date: 1/29/00 6:16:29 PM EST
From: LePatron@LeMetropoleCafe.com

Le Metropole members and GATA supporters,

The big "MO" is going our way.

For now, the big "MO" as in Momentum,
but later for those who put their trust in gold,
the big "MO" as in Money when the price of gold soars,
but that "MO"neyed resulting from the GATA effort is but a "MO"dicum,
eventhought to other, more like an "MO"iety,
as the "MO"netary correctness of fiat paper money
will navigate a more safe and sure path using gold as anchor & rudder.
Let there be a "MO"nism type money world, using gold as the glue,
seened as the whole, so all is as one sound and solid.

Of course, none of us will be satisfied or let up in our efforts until
the price of gold soars to its proper supply/demand equilibrium price.

It is very clear that GATA's efforts are paying off in the sense that we
have the attention of some of the most important people in the United States
government. Now, it is just a matter of time before one of the most nefarious
financial scandals in American history is exposed.

Here are some bullet points of the latest from GATA:

* We received the following letter today:

Official Business

United States Senate
Washington, D.C. 20510-4302

January 26, 2000

Mr. Bill Murphy
Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee
4718 Cole Avenue, #1203
Dallas, Texas 75205

Dear Mr. Murphy:

In response to your recent request for my assistance. I have contacted
the appropriate officials. I will write you again as soon as I receive a reply.

I appreciate having the opportunity to represent you in the United States Senate
and to be of service in this matter.

Yours respectfully,

Phil Gramm
United States Senator

* A GATA supporter and personal acquaintance of Senator Bryan of Nevada
is making the effort to try and set up a meeting with Senator Bryan,
Frank Veneroso, GATA, former Federal Justice Department attorney,
Ethan Stroud, and himself. We will let you know of our progress.

* The information requested by Congressman Jim Ryun of Kansas and his aide,
Marcus Helms Jr., has been sent to them.

* I will be a guest speaker at the Alaska Miner's Association get together
in Fairbanks Alaska on March 10th.

Internet speakers get Maui, some Palm Beach, some Scottsdale, Arizona.

Gold industry speakers get Fairbanks in the WINTER. But not to worry,
as this GATA activity is creating such HEAT now, I may only wear shorts
and a gata t-shirt that has a ____ on the front, saying "___ ___ ___".

Nonetheless, I am thrilled to be going up there to pay back some of
GATA's early Alaskan supporters that have been with us from the beginning.

* On March 29, I will be one of the speakers at the CMRE dinner in New York.

The other speakers are Martin Mayer and James Leisinring.

Martin Mayer is a distinguished author of financial books and is a Fellow
at both the Brookings Institute and Levy Institute.

James Leisinring is on the Board of the Federal Accounting Standards Bureau
(FASB).

CMRE stands for Committee on Monetary Research and Education.

* Fundraising: GATA has now raised just shy of $150,000 that is being used
to support our various efforts. Janel C. Laughlin, a 4 yr. Southern Methodist
University Merit Scholar, will be with us until she graduates to assist us
with our Congressional lobbying efforts, press enlightenment notifications
and gold company communications.

* Influential GATA supporters Don and Judy Graham just received one of the
GATA prints by Absolut Vodka French artist, Alain Despert.

Here is Don's comment:

"I am just heading out the door and was met by Federal Express delivering
the Fine Art Limited Edition print.

Judy and I opened it and think it is "Wonderful!"

The very positive Jeff Dahl sent GATA a similar email expressing his
opinion how beautiful the print looks and what a great bargain it is
for only a $500 contribution.

Alain Despert's artwork is displayed at the Fairmount Hotel in Dallas, Texas
and at the Revel Gallery in the SoHo art district of New York.

This Fine Art print may be viewed at the cafe's Matisse Table
at lemetropolecafe.com
and at GATA's web site, gata.org home page.

Alain Despert was discovered by Town and Country while living in Bora Bora.
His original art work sells for $4500 to $9000 per painting.

Only 300 fine art limited edition prints were made 8 months ago to last
the duration of our campaign and just 212 are left.

If you would like to have one of these stunning,
TAX DEDUCTIBLE Fine Art Limited Edition prints by Alain Despert,
contact GATA Treasurer/Secretary Chris Powell at cxpowell@aol.com

GATA thanks so many of you for your financial support,
as well as your emailing efforts to educate the mainstream financial world
about what is really going on in the gold market,
and that certain powerful financial institutions
will not allow the price of gold to rise.

All the best,

Bill Murphy

Must be something in the way my messages are being printed out--

For example---"ÿ In principle, the answer is simple: announce a change of policy on hedging.ÿ ---

see the Y w/? above at the beginning and end of the sentence I've reprinted from your message??
