Incubating is CMGI's main business - so it is evaluated on that basis.

If Capellas meant to say he wants to enter that business - then he should say it clearly and explain how he intends to do it. I would think it would have to be through a subsidiary which could be spun off. If he intends to do it within the present structure the market will continue to "ignore" the book value of those assets. Even if they are realised, the market will evaluate them as "one off gains" no matter how many times he does it.

Meanwhile, his actions, rather than his words, suggest that he intends to raise profits from the investments on a regular basis by selling them, as he did in 4Q. That's how Dan Niles interpreted it after participating in the CC.
