Alan,

They probably are happy. I am sure these moves are not some grand, conspiratory move against customers. Rather, many BD's are probably tired of being cast in a bad light and of being jerked this way and that, and are happy to finally see definitive moves made toward closing the door on the excessive attention they've received over the past year or so.

If a cop pulls you over for speeding and launches into a tirade about how a car is dangerous, could be considered a weapon, and sprinkles the conversation with words like "manslaughter," or "felony," wouldn't you breathe a sigh of relief when he stopped lecturing and finally handed you an $80.00 ticket?

There's nothing else they can do but petition along the proper channels and, where possible, work along with the regulators. A positive media campaign and some lobbying activity wouldn't hurt, either.

Anyone who thinks that they would, in similar shoes, be an outspoken critic of or rebel against the regulatory bodies are being unrealistic, and probably less than truthful. History has shown that loudmouths only make the industry look worse and bring even more undue attention on everyone.

P.S. Alan, can you post some links to those happy happy quotes, I haven't seen any yet but I'd like to.
