Wally: Re: "The GDP/price deflator/ECI numbers last Friday give the Greenman the cover he needs to get the attention of the irrationally exuberant market - without so stating."

You nailed it. He has the cover. The stock market has started the discounting for 50 basis points a/k/a the "Wally Whopper." It is his call.

One more item. For the first time ever last week, he took notice and concern over margin borrowing and speculation. Whatever one's opinion, one thing cannot be denied. The Greenman is thinking here and willing to revisit some prior conclusions with an open mind. Why? Because I believe he has come to understand now that there is the real possibility that this market and economy have such momentum that anything less then a more aggressive posture is viewed as gasoline on the fire.

If he does not and gives us 25 basis points, the probabilities favor an equity market rally given recent history and then a retest somewhere below the highs at least until we get another bad economic spin. Investors are lining up at the margin window now to play this one like the three prior and they are not making deposits -- that much is for sure. They are looking for the Greenman to be their sugar daddy for a rally. Time to rub the bunions, Dr. Greenhands!
