Hi steve:

When I read "real- world" articles like this, it's difficult to restrain my enthusiasm for AMD and the stellar job in bringing the 1 million Athlons to market while at the same time moving flawlessly up the speed gradient from 500MHz to 800 MHz all within the short time span of 6 months...

You really don't have to be a techy guru to understand the astounding progress witnessed over the past 6 months by the "real" product releases of AMD, particularly when compared with the many phantom releases by its major competitor! What's more is there is nothing on the horizon indicating that the same astounding performance by AMD cannot be expected for the next 12 months. I just don't think one can understate the significance of the Athlon to the marketplace and to AMD eps...Never before has Intel been not only tested but superceded by a superior microprocessor in the top end of the market!

It can only be a matter of a very short time before the implications of this blatantly obvious role reversal between AMD and Intel is factored into the decision making formulae of the big money investors...It is fairly obvious that Goliath, in the top end anyway,is now in intensive care for the foreseeable future as David has struck a potentially mortal blow to the heretobefore uncontested supremacy of Goliath!

Geez, it's already 3 months and counting since the behemoth,Intel (goliath), with its bottomless pockets, first promised to provide a worthy competitor to the Athlon...Now this article makes it sound like Goliath will be in a coma state for at least another 3 months...

Now that I think about it, Goliath's followers (fudders)had much difficulty accepting his mortality as well!
