Although money certainly is the most important factor in negotiating a deal like this it is not the only one, particularly if money is not a concern as in the case of one of the two parties. The negotiation process is made much more effective by figuring out what motivates each side, knowing when a deal is fair, knowing when to put an offer on the table, having the skills to handle difficult people, and protecting all sides from being taken advantage of.

In this particular case there had been a long protracted legal battle. The widow had thought she had 100% of the property until the other arrived with a piece of paper signed by her now deceased husband. I'm not sure of all the details but clearly Mr. Shrake was able to come to terms with all parties … even if the money was the deciding factor.

So it takes $2 off the final share price … if a buyout does occur later this year and I get $10+ a share, who am I to complain.
