New Compaq servers, up to and including 800 MHz Xeons: Compaq's new hardware includes the DL380, a low-profile, 4.5-inch-high server that replaces the ProLiant 1850R. It can accommodate up to two 733-MHz Pentium III processors, and has a 133-MHz front-side bus and room for up to four 1-inch-wide Ultra2 SCSI hard drives. Prices start at $4,886. Later this year, Compaq will add a two-way, 1.5-inch-high system to the ProLiant DL line. Compaq is also introducing floor-standing or rack-mount servers: The ML530 replaces the ProLiant 3000, the ML370 replaces the ProLiant 1600, and the ML350 replaces the ProLiant 800 and the Prosignia 740. The ML350 uses up to two 600- or 733-MHz Pentium III CPUs; the ML370 has up to two 667- or 733-MHz Pentium III chips; and the ML530-also a two-way system-uses the 800-MHz Xeon and has 12 hot-pluggable hard-drive bays.
