when you guys update to new servers why don't you keep the old ones...completely separate it from the new servers so it does not tax current posting and call it "SI archieve"....and have its only task be search of old data base...that way it does not tax the new and since it is only doing occasional seaeches runs reasonably fast and can you can make it go back several years instead of three months

John,

This has possibly already been discussed, but it would be nice if one could delete a bunch of messages at the same time in one's outbox, instead of having to do it one at a time.

IMHO, we need little boxes one can click like are available in SI e-mail, so you delete all the unwanted posts at once.

Thanks,
Phil

. Until then, full-text searches will remain searching the past three months to limit strain on the database.

John, Three months? Is that a typo? The Original SI allows me to search back six(6) months.

Thanks JB. Appreciate the prompt response.

In response to your question, "Anyone have ideas for other features to include in advanced
search?" I am somewhat at a loss, since I have not been a regular visitor to this thread .. and
thus do not know where to start.

But, here is a suggestion...
John, perhaps SI could post a "Message to SI Customers" wherein a list of "Upcoming New Features"
is listed. The idea here is to let us all know what features SI management has already committed to.

For instance, I would like to have the ability to use wildcards: i.e. Full Text Search for optic* ....but
I have no way of knowing whether this suggestion has been made 1 time or 100 times in the last month
and I have no way of knowing whether or not SI long ago decided to add this feature.

Perhaps a thread could be started called:
"Upcoming Silicon Investor Improvements, Searching"
wherein only SI Management could post messages. Thus, this new thread, for SI mgmt use only,
could be used to post the improvements that SI management has, to date, committed to ...

It's late. Hopefully, what I am saying is coherent.
Thanks for your efforts to improve SI .. and thanks
again for the prompt reply.

John

John Busby...I am back to the open response to post in new window idea again...let me give you another reason why I think it is needed....frequently when I post I like to provide links for people in my post. Sometimes these links come from inside or outside SI and may number more than one.....usually the way it works I am writing a post and I say OK need to get that link so I do a back arrow to the thread then go find what I want........well when you do that you can not get back to where you were writing your post.....try it yourself......start a response post to me then back arrow to my post...now hit Silicon Think TANK so you can see the whole list of posts.....you are now deadmeat...can't get back to your response post.....OK I know I should just remember when I do that to open what I am looking for in another window but even knowing the problem I still forget sometimes...what about the new guy...he would get really lost...and then factor in if you are going outside SI and have multiple links...you get really lost....I have had many a post half done never to be found again...what the world is missing we will never know.

John, how about setting your "page properties" to one or less on the margins and give us that extra half inch at the top of the screen?

Thanks, Michael

John. Maybe this has already been brought up but I haven't seen an answer so here goes.

Are we ever going to be able to get charts that go back further than 120 days???

If it is possible to get data further back on charts, someone please help this dummy out and tell me how I can do it.

TIA

:-)
JD

John,

Sure hope SI is still planning to provide charting for stocks listed on Canadian exchanges (at least the TSE). We are waiting patiently!
