hey gottfried, a very helpful security article. thanks for posting. in addition to gibson's 'shields up!' test site grc.com another stringent test can be found at dslreports.com i was most encouraged by the results when i tested my pc's. note: when taking the test at the 'secure-me' site above, remember to enter your own ip address, as there seems to be one pre-filled in that makes the test useless. also, despite the dsl in the site's name, the test works fine for cable modems also. :) mark
