Xerox and Presstek To Join In A Strategic Alliance
HUDSON, N.H., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Presstek, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRST - news), a leading provider of direct digital imaging technologies to the printing and publishing industry, today announced they have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX - news) which outlines the parties intent to form a strategic alliance. The proposed alliance, which is subject to the parties entering into a final agreement, anticipates an evolving relationship based on interfacing the Xerox DigiPath(TM) workflows with Presstek's digitally based products. The products introduced as a result of this alliance will be designed to serve the ``ink-on-paper' needs of the graphic arts and related markets. The companies are targeting Drupa 2000 in May in Dusseldorf, Germany to launch the initial products.

Xerox Senior Vice President and General Manager, Document Production Systems Business Unit, Gerhard Moll, said, ``Printers are looking for ways to add value for their customers and to simplify their customers' processes for doing business with them. Xerox has provided this added value with DigiPath. Now, with the integration of DigiPath and the Presstek DI© enabled line of digital offset presses, Xerox is once again adding significant value for printers and for their customers.'

Frank Steenburgh, senior vice president and general manager, Xerox Graphic Arts Industry Business Unit said, ``We believe that in the long term, our toner based digital presses will be complimentary to digital offset presses for a variety of applications. Our alliance with Presstek will help us to fulfill this vision.'
