Very true Mark. Another call that can't go wrong though I must respect Bob's willingness to go out on the proverbial limb in the small way that he has (though he still has both hands securely around the trunk).

No matter what happens from here, he's covered.

best...

MP: Re: "I believe Bob did not go 100% cash because there was too much risk in making that call. With 40% in the market, he can claim victory even if the market goes up based on 'risk adjusted return.'"

Well, I believe Bob did not go to 100% cash for many reasons. But I also believe he did it with the interest of his subscribers and listeners at heart. I do not believe Brinker is looking for a way to "claim" victory if the market goes either way. I believe his interests are, first and foremost, to give sound advice. Now one may view it as "playing both sides of the fence" but who cares. The only issue is whether this is sound advice given the circumstances.

I see you have decided to focus on the fact that Brinker comes out a winner either way. Now, is that a reasonable approach to investing?
Is it sound advice in your circumstances? Those are the issues you might want to focus on.

Re: "If Bob went 100% cash and the markets still rallied, he would quickly lose his audience and become one of those "bad news bears" that he makes fun of."

Yah, Brinker's goal is to maintain a radio audience no matter what and will do anything to achieve that goal even if it means sacrificing his integrity by giving substandard advice. That's why we all listen to his show. Sure, whatever.
