Dave, Would you like to give a reference or link to your claim on Neural net based voice recognition system?
Is it all software based?

You can send a PM if you prefer so.

Thanks in advance,
-Nat

Dave,
That is my understanding also but Andre brought out the point - a valid one to my limited knowledge of the subject- of how to effectively and economically power the process in a small PDA device. I think it's still the major stumbling block. However, one that will one day be overcome. Thanks for your insight, Bill

>>There has been what appears to be a major break through in voice recognition. Using very small neural nets, scientists have been able to create small vocabulary voice recognition that by far outperforms humans in noisy environments. The technology is patented and a number of companies are negotiating licenses (including incorporating the technology in cell phones).<<

Very good point. I wasn't considering limited vocabulary sets, though. The issue we were discussing was character input into the Palm, not generic commands. I'd agree that voice activation of features/programs/commonly used phrases could work, but my guess is that VR won't substitute most character entry for quite a while.
