Do you have any link for the building of a home network using NETGEAR or 3coms. We like to link all the PCs and printer ... to a hub The Hub will has a link to cable modem and has an uplink. That is the general idea. We like to have more info and the howto.

The method that most people use to share a cable modem or a DSL modem among 2 or more PCs is to:

1. Install 2 NICs, network interface cards, in one computer.
2. Install 1 NIC in each of the other computers in your home network.
3. Connect the cable modem to one of the NICs in the computer with two NICs.
4. Connect the other NIC in the computer with two NICs to your hub.
5. Connect the NICs in your other computers to your hub.
6. Configure your network software. Your network software is built into Windows 98.
7 Check out your network to ensure it is operational.
8. Install routing software like WinRoute or Sygate in your computer with two NICs. This software allows you to share one cable modem among multiple PCs.
9 The computer with two NICs must be running, for the other computers on your network to use your cable modem.

Note, if you only have 2 PCs you do not need a hub. Instead of a hub use a crossover cable.
