Petz: <<I think its unrealistic to expect Intel to "make peace" with AMD.>>

Peace to me means orderly price environment. With AMD's matching product lines (desktop, at least), There is a decent chance that Intel may well chose to price orderly. Please notice the rather obvious AMD atitude towards Intel since the intro of Athlon 750: Begining with Jerry's appearace on CNBC, followed by recent CC and Herb's Interview on Radiowallstreet, AMD's remarks regarding Intel are less fighting words, more rational appealing--Jerry's CC remark of not pushing mhz envelop was intended to Intel as well -- the message: We are not going to embarrass you, but let's all behave and all make money! This is a good message that should apeal to Intel's shareholders.

Now, with Via in. The low end is going to get bloodier; the message to the street--war is still on. Since AMD and Via are viewed as poor cousins here Kash wise, they are going to be viewed as losers in the war until to be proved otherwise. The key here is we need the message that the war is OVER NOW in order to move the stock much, much higher. With Via, Wallstreet will think AMD is still in the war zone, thus, flatten the stock price!!

<<Who is Tom Dunlop?>> Intel's chief legal guy, with poor records in fighting AMD and Cyrix!
