Wayne, re >It will go on-line by itself< Look for a check labelled 'dial automatically' or similar. Uncheck it.
[the IE5 dial-up box has this, don't know about Navigator].

hey wayne,

regarding your "Also having problem with dial-up connection. It will go on-line by itself if computer on (of course)."

if the msie suggestion gottfried provided fixes you up, terrific. but if not, and it's looking like more of a netscape thing going on, i have two suggestions.

first, in netscape, go to edit, preferences, offline. depending on which version you're running (i'm using 4.7) you'll see a choice that says 'remember previous state'. be sure that is selected.

second, if the above does not help, check out this page

inmind.com

Problem Summary: "Netscape doesn't automatically dial my ISP when I launch Netscape."

based on the summary, it looks like you can find out what NOT to do, or what to UNDO in order to keep your puter from dialing up when you open your browser.

good luck

:)
