Loren's Fee Too Rich for Namesake Cake

HARTFORD, Conn. (Reuters) - Connecticut chef David Glass still thinks his Italian almond cake
is beautiful and seductive, but he will no longer name it after Sophia Loren.

Glass, 51, whose critically praised baked goods are served on airlines and sold at U.S. retail
outlets and through a catalog, said on Friday that he and the Italian actress could not agree on
new licensing terms for his Ultimate Sophia Loren Luscious Italian Almond Cake.

The rich confection, which feeds 12 and lists for $26.95 in the catalog, has been one of the
best-selling products of Hartford-based Desserts by David Glass Inc. since it was first offered in
1996.

``She's still my favorite actress, but her fees are now quite a bit higher than what I had been
paying,' Glass told Reuters. He said he had previously paid Loren 12 percent of total sales of
her namesake cake.

Now that their agreement has crumbled, the entrepreneur is turning to the public for ideas on
filling in the blank in ``The Ultimate - Luscious Italian Almond Cake.'
