And that is probably a good thing.

Mike/All

Cheapskate alert. For a low cost computer, check this out. The latest MicroCenter flyer shows etrade offering $300 back on $300 or more purchase if made in next few weeks. The catch, you must open Etrade account with min $1000 and leave open for 1 year. (credit they offered was $400 a month ago... alas)

At any rate, Microcenter had: Emachine 466celery, 4.3g hdrive, 40xcd, 56k, 3d agp graphics, mouse/kboard speakers, win98 etc for $475. Mail in coupon to Emachines is worth $75 & the etrade credit is worth $300. Check out the details closely as they seem to change them

While this may not be as good as some of the zero cost offers, it does give you a fairly decent PC for about a hundred bucks & the pain of opening an account for 1yr min.

PS - question for you Mike.
1. How is anyone making money with these kind of deals these days?

Also, in the vein of frugality, has anyone had luck with the free internet providers such as: freeinet, bluelight, snap, netzero, altavista ? I have tried a few and it looks like bluelight and snap might be winners.

thanks
