Maybe you need to modify your US Dollar index versus XAU?

Try applying the 1-year treasury yields, the 30-year treasury yields, and M2 data. Then run a partial differential test to see if the error is significant? After all is not the XAU a growth related index? And the US Dollar index an M2, growth, and rate related index based on currency inflows outflows? And then plot them versus the POG.
