Briand, with all due respect, you keep pointing out that it was LU's marketing mgr's fault.

It seems to me that allocating $$ and prioritizing Optics as a key driver is a decision that usually gets made at the executive level -- not at the marketing level.

If you are suggesting that somehow LU marketing group did not inform LU's senior mgmt about the development in the optics arena, I really find this HARD to believe. It's possible but not likely............my guess is that given the marketing intelligence from the Mkgt mgrs., LU executive mgmt may have not fully understood the nature of change that is taking place at the core of the network -- and this is really unacceptable and heads should have rolled. So far I have heard no one has taken/accepted responsiblity at LU and no heads have rolled.......there is lack of urgency that all LU holders should be very concerned about and issues like Corporate mandate, vision, strategy and setting the pace (i.e. urgency) is ALWAYS made from the top CEO level.
