Tony,<<<I hear the YUK's "informed sources" include the gardener 2200 Mission College Blvd. and a couple of the ticket takers at the amusement park next door. >>>

I think YUK is journalistically challenged. They are more likely reporting musings of colleagues.

But, don't underestimate information coming out of lowly sources .

In the AOL/TWC deal, a guy was posting on Yahoo Msg Boards, in a real time mode, what his son, a pastry chef, serving meals to Case, Levin, Turner et al in a secret hotel location and overheard Turner making some very revealing comments.

A lot of the activity (unusually heavy) the trading day before the merger announcement could have been from arbitragers monitoring the Yahoo Msg Board.

Tony,

Although I don't rate the Register's opinions of what is good and bad, when they publish a rumour from unspecified sources, it is generally right on target and confirmed by named sources or a company press release a few days later.
