Build slowly, yet relative to your portfolio size. One or two contracts to some is ten to twenty for others. For me, I take positions in stocks and options in minimum increments of 1000 shares or ten contracts and build towards 10,000+ shares (100+ contracts) positions. My smallest position in options is 10 contracts, and my largest is 200 contracts (WCOM Leaps).

Some may buy 100 or 200 contracts. It's all relative.

The value of my options portfolio is equal to about 20-25% of my equity portfolio.
