Adam, Re: "My customer is looking into this system (multi-node SGI 1200L) as a replacement for their Intel Paragon supercomputers."

How many nodes? Just curious.

Adam - re: 'My customer is looking into this system (multi-node SGI 1200L) as a replacement for their Intel Paragon supercomputers. It looks impressive, but SGI has had a rough time competing over the past couple of years."

SGI spun their own chip sets, I believe, for Pentium II/III Workstations - but they did have very good graphics accelerators.

Their major problem seems to be expecting traditional SGI sales prices - even though they are using "commodity" CPUs.
