All my trades were posted also... you can look on the CPQ thread in late October or early November to pick up my trades on Nov and Jan CPQ calls as well as the LEAPS in that stock. Also selling covered calls and puts on DELL throughout the year, or my hedge buying puts on DELL last Wednesday.

I was just kidding about the lesson, I made out pretty well this year with my own clumsy style and will just continue to muddle along without the benefit of the kind of analysis you do, I am too lazy to do that much work. That's why I try and come up with some simple yardsticks for my plays, that way I don't have to think too hard.

Ignoring LEAPs for a moment, I made a little over $1.9M in 1999 on various option plays while putting less than $100K in capital at risk - of course if the put sales had gone bad I was at risk to take the stock but I have plenty of ability to do that.

I don't pretend to be an investment advisor, just a former engineer gone bad... but I do post everything I do, both to get comments from other investors and so that others can get a feel for my investment style.

re: That way, I can't get away with bull from retrospective imaginary trading histories

Didn't really click when reading your post that you actually thought I was talking through my hat... not nice to call someone a liar without a little work to see if that's the case or not. If you would like to follow one of my more rewarding plays this year, start with
Message 11663363
and follow it along as I eventually picked up 1000 contracts at prices ranging from 3/8 to 1/8 which sold a few weeks later for just under 3... even a blind squirrel occasionally finds some nuts, even without TA...

<edit> Speaking of posting trades, what do you think of the ZJXAP buy I posted earlier that started this whole discussion? Just dumb luck... looks like that's up about 2 3/8 so far... how's your day going? Good luck with your investments.

So what do you think the delta of an OTM call will be, given your vast knowledge of the subject?

Since this is a LEAP, how much erosion of time value would you expect at this point in the curve?

Since volatility can rise as well as fall, won't he perhaps make even MORE than he surmises?

BTW, you could stand to be a little more civil.
