Jim, Morpher & TheKelster,

Thanks for your responses. I have ordered daSlinger. It has some advanced features, like quickly being able to change fractions, that I had thought about but decided not to include in my letter to Datek. I figured they already had enough suggestions to deal with.

I am amazed that OLBs have not improved their screen designs. They could produce beautiful, efficient screens at negligible cost. They could also easily design screens to suit a variety of trading styles.

I also agree with TheKelster, that the servers would not have to be reprogrammed to do this. However, if they were willing to offer more sophisticated options, such as following stops or Boolean trading (e.g. IF Naz drops 30 points AND Stock drops 10 THEN Sell) they would have to do reprogramming.

Even this wouldn't be very expensive compared to offering newcomers rebates to try to get more active customers.

I think the securities industry as a whole still has one foot in the 40's (e.g. even small companies offer direct deposit nowadays; Datek only offers wire transfers).

KK, can you tell us more about the "fast" order screens you use and how we might get them. Thanks.
