Panic_mob, re:My question is if all Micro Center stores offer PowerSpec branded PCs.

I think so. In Boston, Powerspec is offering 2 Athlon PCs: a 650 and 700. There are also offering PIII systems from 450 to 700. HP is offering a 800 PIII system (the Pavillion 9690C). This is interesting since MC seems to always be behind the technology curve by a few months...

Re: still has several models of IBM Aptiva PCs. Are those inventories or is IBM still in the retail game?

Current featured special at IBM Home/Office is the Athlon 800MHZ:

commerce.www.ibm.com

IBM is still very much in the PC and Athlon business, and they enjoy having high end products available for immediate shipment - Dell can vaguely remember what that was like.

Thread, based on the news on P!!! shortage in the last couple of days, I have a strong feeling that AMD will gain significant market share in the next 6-9 months or so. Mind you this Intel screw-up has worldwide fallouts!

Even without a grand-slam business SKU from tie one OEMs, AMD can pick up a lot of business from 2nd and 3rd tie OEMs.
As I posted earlier wrt the Micro Center's PowerSpec offering, the sum of these small pickups is significant. PowerSpec never offered AMD boxes until recent weeks. And a lot of those white boxes are actually bought by small businesses.

I will be happy If AMD has above 20% market share before Willy's launch. It's very achievable. This Q gonna be awesome.
