Nokomis: Back in the late 70's a close friend of mine, an astute student of astrology, wondered if there might be a correlation between stock prices and astrological influences. At the time I was trading commodities, primarily silver and gold. He did a lot of work, back-testing on a slew of commodity prices. He found that his astrological work seemed to "work" with gold and soybeans. I was curious but skeptical. So I traded as usual but looked at his work as "back-up." His calls, based solely on astrological analysis were "statistically significant", i.e. if his calls were correct 60 or 65% of the time you might conclude that this was a "lucky" run. But when you start hitting at 75-85% you've left the realm of "luck" or chance. Sadly, he gave it up, couldn't make a living at something he really loved...too many skeptics, not enough income. (Lee)
