In order to be human as well as divine, Jesus needed a human parent as a counterpart to the holy-spirit. One could say that God chose the better half of humanity to be the human parent. Or one could nice and not say that, but say that it was the logical choice. If a human guy had been father, then Jesus would have been birthed by God way up high and then how would he have gotten down here? A stork with lots of stamina? Oh, and what Rambi said.
