Do you know what the production limit might be?

Prior to the Asian flu, they increased their capacity to 1,000 lasers/yr. They have all the capacity they need for the time being.

Back of the envelope capacity limit is $900 million annual revenue!

Assuming 1,000 lasers (this # has been tossed around) at say $600K per; plus another 1/3 segment from service revenues. If the company started day and night shifts they might push that number, but would probably be straining to get there. So, there's a ways to go yet.

Of course I'ld expect to see price hikes in the face of that kind of demand - say $1.0 billion flat out pedal to the metal.

Good Luck To Each And All

Two years ago they were prepared to produce in excess of 1000 lasers/year. Of course that information may be of little value today considering the multiple types of lasers Cymer now produces (which could either increase or decrease that number depending on the way you look at it). Additionally the Seiko relationship, which allows production of CYMI lasers in Japan, has not been at the forefront of discussion on the thread this past year or two. The concept of "production limited" has been far from the banter around here since around September 97'. It's nice to begin to hear it again.

On another note my guess of earnings was right on at .29 and I was off by a mere 2.3m on the backlog (lots of guesswork there). If everyone cheers real hard for ME to win the Radarview contest we'll close tomorrow around 72.

Personally, I think Curly's got it in the bag at 60 but I think everyone would rather the # was closer to mine than his(including you Curly).

With the current product mix, they think they build 580 to 600 lasers in a year. With notice, they believe they could increase that by 20% in six months. I hope I am not mistaken, but they were talking about shipping 500+ lasers in 2000, maybe more in the 550 range. Please refer to the conference call.
