Dan3, Well If someone opened up a coppermine and examined it under hugh mag they may find some edge marks that tell the tale, or they can tell by the shape/suze compared to a Xeon.As you say some factor is making them run at full speed and drop the ball at the same time. sounds like Athenas run. Your scenarion has plausibility. What a hot potatoe if it were true. All those Xeon owners who paid top dollar and yet they sold the same parts for less, shades of the Bausch and Lomb lawsuit.
Some clever trial lawyers should invest in a chip or two, they may jusy hit gold.
