It's a long drawn out story, but in the beginning there was a god or Dr. J as we call him here, who started a company that holds the key to next gen. wireless based on a some recently dead actresses flash of genus while watching one of her many male friends play piano. God, or Dr. J as he is called, decided to that if he was going to get his baby out, he would have subsidize companies that would be bidding a national treasure that no one can see, but everyone can use, The Air Waves. In return for the use of Dr. Js money, he would get funny money that would be valued by what turn out to be investors that where throwing money at a company (NextWave) that would make it vanished into thin air, sort of like what they where buying (spectrum) in the first place. As always, NextWave founders had big eyes (much like the bulk of the internet IPOs that have happen to date), but little knowledge of what can happen to the little guy when the play with the big guys who stand in their way. So NextWave ran out of money before they could make it happen. So what did they do to protect this valuable spectrum they filed for bankruptcy. FCC didn't like that they where protected by the bankruptcy laws and has tried to take the spectrum back, wasting more of our money and using more of poor little NextWave money. But low and behold, others have seen (Global Crossing) that WOW, NextWave holds a gold mine lets give them more money so they can pay the big bad FCC what they are supposed to for the spectrum, so they can go ahead build out what we then can have some of to complement our wireland network, and by pass the old fat rebocs (old bell operating companies) for the last mile. hehhehhe.. What is important is to not let McCaw (Nextel) and his army of iDENT (made by the evil MOT) phone users get hold of this very valuable spectrum that is suppose to be CDMA. Dr. Who.
