RE. MRVC:
Hello, Guy,
MRVC manufactures products that integrate fiber-optic transmission, switching, routing and remote access. It has several divisions, some of which are expected to be spun off starting this year. Its New Access subsidiary has backing from Juniper Networks and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. New Access' fiber optic networking solution is expected to be more powerful than both Cerent and Sycamore solutions. Zuma subsidiary is testing an enterprise switch router that supposedly has more power and scalability than those of Foundry and Extreme networks. And more: Red-C (subscriber management)in the works; Charlottes Web subsidiary coming with new terabit router, Aranea.
Optical Access division has innovative Fiber to the Curb and Fiber to the desktop solutions. MRVC also key stakeholder in Hyperchannel, Europe's new b2b, and in addition makes Linux hardware and software.
This is a company with strong fiber optic units, powerful new strategic partners (including Goldman Sachs w/Hyperchannel), and making progress in the high-end networking area. The best source I have found for MRVC news and understanding this company is the SI MRVC thread. Some great contributors.
Good luck,
Joanne
