You didn't tell us what you wound up giving people to eat at your party, did you? I am all ears.

I made bread yesterday, with my much-maligned King Arthur flour, and let me tell you, it is good. I used the recipe on the bag, which is just flour, water, yeast, salt, and a little sugar for the yeast. I usually add milk and butter when I make bread, so I was uncertain about the results. The recipe called for putting the bread pan on the rack above a pan of boiling water, and it turned out very much like Italian bread, not quite as crispy as French bread, but with a similar taste. I was surprised.

The Big King of Winter?! Domination by the White Man. Oppression of the Sun People. How could you be so unaware.

That reminds me that I received some of those flags, and a special flagpole, for Christmas and I have not had time to put it up. I had no idea pastels were so controversial! Do they make some kind of political statement? Are bunnies taboo these days? Quick, I must tell my neighbors who have them, and the real thing (bunnies).

There is not one pastel flag in the lot I received - I must correct that oversight.

I love my flags. I have a bat for Halloween, a Poinsettia for Christmas (or should I be PC and call it "winter holiday"? Of course holiday has "holi" in it, is that religious?), I have jonquils for spring and a cardinal bird for no reason, we have a pineapple that says "Welcome Friends" even though we never invite people over anymore cause the house is such a mess, and the we have a birthday flag that rarely gets put up- because it's only good for one day- and it's kind of a lot of work to put up a flag for one day- I should explain that our flag is bolted to the stanchion because someone stole the last flag AND pole- and we also attach the flag to the pole with a screw so it hangs straight down and doesn't whip around as much. So to change flags I need the electric screwdriver- and I have to find both bits because for some reason one of the screws is the straight across kind and one has that cross head.

We also have a Valentine flag that I really ought to put up now- and a giant Shamrock, and a turkey, and I KNOW I am forgetting some of the other ones....
