Speaking of creepy movies, I was always struck by the fact that Sharon Tate, the wife of Roman Polanski, the creepiest movie-maker ever, was slaughtered, a la Polanski, in the most bizarrely fiendish manner. And her murderers -- the Manson crowd -- sounded just like and acted just like characters in one of her husband's movies. No wonder the police, at first, suspected Polanski of having arranged it!

Which brings us to an interesting question: can we "bring on" something really horrible by constantly imagining horrible things happening? Did Polanski create an aura of "bad vibes" around him, that attracted this ghastly misfortune, like a lightning-rod? Of course, I don't think so, but still...

No, I have not seen "The Nasty Girl." Who's the director? New film? Old one?
