the most significant things in that press release was the reiteration of the 02/18 launch date. I suspect they are ready now, but are waiting till the day after MSFT's Win'2K launch because of some yet to be revealed reason. I suspect that MSFT is desperate for any gimmick to help market Win'2K, and if ONT can somehow jazz up Win'2K launch and functionality with ONT own CODEC services so much the better for Mr.Bill if anyone from ONT is reading this, I strongly suggest a market alliance with a CCD PC camera maker like Intel. if you got one to package your Video Email system with the camera, people would then sent Video Email to friends who don't have a camera thus inspiring them to buy one! you could even pre\|post fix the Email with a brief video marketing segment that would promote the camara makers product offerings. since streaming video email requires ONT's infrustructure to work, I'm sure most video email users would not mind other advertising attached to their Vmails as long as it's very brief and tasteful. this platform could open up a whole new form of marketing that players like DoubleClick would just salavate over! DCLK is nervous that broadband will kill the banner advertising market as people won't bother looking at banners while their pages load, since their pages will load so fast. yet with this Vmail concept, they'd have the captive broadband audience they crave! what's also perfect about such an allience is how DoubleClick has a huge infrustructure of Servers, Mirrors, and Caching sites to get their banners to your pages as painlessly as possible. This infrustructure and long standing expertise could come in handy to a new player like ONT needing similar stuff.
