I agree ETEC seems to be way too costly unless the strategic value is immense. I understand why AMAT might want ETEC, but it would definitely have been cheaper to offer each ETEC employee 2x the salary and then buy the assets when it imploded.

It would take what a decade or so to earn back the cost of ETEC from after tax profits.

Boy they better rapidly increase market share.
