that's true. now, the BoE threw 30 billion dollars at the pound in a single day back then and he still prevailed. the Fed otoh has no currency reserves to throw at the dollar. the dollars fate is in foreign hands...and they must be getting a bit antsy in view of the big imbalances like the current account and trade deficit and bubble boy's incessant printathon. not to mention the explosion in dollar denominated short term debt...
