Re: "In addition, how come no one ever talks about the fact that Ericsson wins every time Qualcomm wins? Everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten that Ericsson purchased the base station business from Qualcomm and that these are a basic requirement every time Qualcomm wins a competition to use their chipsets."

WRONG. ERICY does not win every time QCOM wins. The two do not go hand in hand. There are numerous other errors in your article. You should do more due diligence before posting erroneous material.

Mr. StreetAdvisor,

Regarding the article/link you posted here this morning:

streetadvisor.com

You state: "The CEO talked about getting this deal in during their conference call a few days ago, but indicated such a deal was a few months out."

In the December conference call Irwin Jacobs stated: And so, I think there's an opportunity to try to finish within the month...next month. If we miss on that it could stretch another few months.

In other words, he said there was a good chance a deal would happen in January.

In the January conference call, Irwin Jacobs was asked:

Question: So do you think by the end of the first half of this year you might have this done?

And his response was:

Irwin: I would be terribly disappointed if it weren't, yes.

This is the only reference to the timing of the deal I found in the conference call. If this is what you are referring to, he didn't say the deal was "a few months out".

I am also puzzled by this statement in your article: "In addition, how come no one ever talks about the fact that Ericsson wins every time Qualcomm wins? Everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten that Ericsson purchased the base station business from Qualcomm and that these are a basic requirement every time Qualcomm wins a competition to use their chipsets."

As I understand it, there are many companies that manufacture base stations, eg. Nortel, Lucent, Motorola. So, why does "Ericsson win every time Qualcomm wins"?
